The People's Bank of China will issue the 2015 Edition 100 yuan note
on 12 November 2015 as part of the fifth series of RMB notes
The 2015 Edition 100 yuan note has the same size, principal graphic pattern and colors as the 2005 Edition. While the new note continues to carry the National Emblem and the issuer's name (the People's Bank of China) in Chinese, Braille, Chinese Pinyin and ethnic minority's languages, there are adjustments in some of the graphic patterns and enhancement in the overall security features.
The tactile marks in the 2005 Edition are removed.
The latent image on the right side in the 2005 Edition is removed.
The denomination numeral in OVI at lower left corner in the 2005 Edition is removed.
A denomination numeral in OVMI is added in the middle of the observe side.
An optical variable demetalized windowed security thread is added.
Vertical serial numbers are added on the right side.
The denomination numeral at upper right is rearranged from horizontal to vertical and the font of the numeral is changed.
The color and line structure of the floral guilloche pattern at the center of the obverse side are changed.
The see-through register is moved from the middle of left side to the lower left corner, and the graphic pattern of the registration device is changed from an antique coin to denomination numeral '100'.
The holographic magnetic windowed security thread on the right side of the 2005 Edition is removed.
The anti-copy sign at lower right corner in the 2005 Edition is removed.
The offset patterns on the left and right sides of the 2015 Edition occupy a smaller area than in the 2005 Edition.
The see-through register is moved from the middle of the right side to the lower right corner, and the design of the registration device is changed from an antique coin to the denomination numeral '100'.
The color and line structure of the denomination numeral '100' at the lower left corner of the reverse side are changed.
The color of ornament patterns on the 2005 Edition note is changed.
The font of denomination numeral at upper left and upper right corners are both changed.
The year of issue is changed to 2015.
The issuer's name, i.e. PeopIe's Bank of China, is intaglio printed. The intaglio print can be felt with fingertips.
The National Emblem is intaglio printed. The intaglio print can be felt with fingertips.
The portrait watermark is in the blank area on the left side of the obverse side. When the note is held against the light, a portrait of Mao Zedong becomes visible.
The see-through numeral '100' is printed at the lower left corner of the obverse side and at the lower right corner of the reverse side. When held against the light, the partial patterns on the obverse and reverse sides combine to form the numeral '100' in its entirety.
The horizontal serial number is at the lower left of the obverse side. The serial number begins with two letters, followed by eight digits. The two letters and first two digits of the horizontal number are printed in dark red and the next six digits in black.
The highlight watermark showing the denomination numeral '100' can be seen below the horizontal serial number on the obverse side when the note is held against the light.
The denomination numeral at the upper right corner is intaglio printed. The intaglio print can be felt with fingertips.
The vertical serial number is printed in blue at the right side.
The thread is located on the right side of the obverse side. Viewing the note vertically, the thread appears magenta and turns green when the viewing angle changes. The demetalized characters '¥' and '100' on the thread become visible when the note is held against the light.
The denomination numeral '100' is printed in the middle of the obverse side. The numeral is golden in color when viewed at a vertical angle, but turns green when viewed from a horizontal angle. The color of the numeral changes from golden to green when the viewing is shifted from a vertical to a horizontal angle, with a shining bar moving up and down.
The issuer's name in Braille on the obverse side is intaglio printed. The intaglio print can be felt with fingertips.
The Portrait of Mao Zedong is intaglio printed. The intaglio print can be felt with fingertips.
The Great Hall of the People on the reverse side is intaglio printed. The intaglio print can be felt with fingertips.
