On October 15, 2018, Governor Yi Gang attended the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) High-Level Symposium to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the BIS Representative Office for Asia and the Pacific in Hong Kong SAR. More than 20 Governors and Chief Executives from central banks and monetary authorities attended the Symposium, including Governor Haruhiko Kuroda of Bank of Japan, Governor Ignazio Visco of Bank of Italy, Governor Klaas Knot of Netherlands Bank and General Manager Agustin Carstens of the BIS. They exchanged ideas on globalization, financial technology and challenges faced by central banks.
On October 16, Governor Yi Gang attended the "Monetary Policy and Exchange Rate" Conference co-hosted by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the BIS. The delegates exchanged views on fluctuations and determinants of exchange rates, monetary policy framework and international monetary system.
