The Tenth Meeting of Anti-Money Laundering Joint Ministerial Conference (AMLJMC) was held in Beijing on December 26, 2019. Members of the AMLJMC studied the spirits of important arrangements of central government leaders, analyzed the situation of anti-money laundering (AML) work, and made arrangements for AML work in the next step. All 21 member agencies of the AMLJMC and the specially invited representatives from CPC Central Committee National Security Commission, Commission for Political and Legal Affairs, and Legislative Affairs Commission of the National People’s Congress were present at the meeting. Mr Yi Gang, AMLJMC convener and PBC Governor, attended and addressed the meeting.
Governor Yi noted that central leaders’ important arrangements are the guidance for AML work in the new era. AMLJMC member agencies should earnestly enhance political stance, and understand the significance of AML work from the perspective of safeguarding national economic and financial security, cracking down on AML crimes, improving national governance capacity and participating in global governance. AML supervisory coordination should also be strengthened by further improving the working mechanism of AMLJMC and encouraging each member to play its due role while cooperating closely with one another. Taking the opportunity of the AML mutual evaluation, the member agencies should well complete due tasks and effectively shore up weak spots according to international AML standards and recommended actions proposed in China’s mutual evaluation report, so as to comprehensively improve the AML work of China.
