In accordance with Regulations of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China, and with approval by the State Council, Lian Weiliang, Shi Yaobin, Zhang Xiaohui, and Tian Guoli are appointed members of the Monetary Policy Committee. Zhu Zhixin, Hu Xiaolian, Ma Jiantang and Hu Huaibang no longer serve as members. The Committee’s economics and financial affairs expert members, i.e. Qian Yingyi, Chen Yulu and Song Guoqing, have completed their terms, and with approval by the State Council, Fan Gang, Huang Yiping and Bai Chong-En are appointed members of the Monetary Policy Committee.
Bio of Dr. Fan Gang
Dr. Fan Gang, born in 1953, is the Vice Chairman of the China Society of Economic Reform, a professor of economics at the Peking University and the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Dr. Fan has a PhD degree in Economics from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His research interests include macro-economics, institutional economics/transition economics. He is the author of several books including General Macroeconomic Theory of Public Economy, Political Economics of Reform and many research papers. Some papers have been published as collections.
Bio of Dr. Huang Yiping
Dr. Huang Yiping, born in 1964, is the Deputy Dean of and professor at National School of Development, Peking University. He received a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University. His research interests include macro-economics, international finance and agricultural development. He has published several dozens of research papers, and four books, including Growth without Miracles, China’s Agricultural Reform, China’s Last Few Steps across the River, and Application Econometrics.
Bio of Dr. Bai Chong-En
Dr. Bai Chong-En, born in 1963, is the Associate Dean of School of Economics and Management, Mansfield Chair Professor at the Department of Economics, Tsinghua University. He received a PhD in Economics from Harvard University and PhD in Mathematics from University of California-San Diego. His research interests include institutional economics, economic growth and development, public economics, finance, corporate governance and the Chinese economy. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Economics Association and a member of the Scientific Council of the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, and serves on the editorial board of the World Bank Economic Review and other international journals. He is also Associate Editor of China Journal of Economics.
