1.Main Purpose
The MPC Research Fellow Program aims to further MPC’s role as a platform for academic exchanges, and strengthen collaboration and communication between the PBC and other major central banks, international organizations, as well as prestigious universities and research institutions. The program encourages top-tier experts and scholars from China and overseas to conduct collaborative study with PBC staff for a certain period of time, providing valuable references for theory and practice of monetary policy of the PBC. The research focuses on the latest theory and practice of monetary policy, as well as advanced economic and financial issues.
2.Qualifications
The research fellows are expected to be Professors of Economics or Finance from prestigious universities at home and abroad, or distinguished scholars with doctoral degrees in Economics or Finance. Research fellows are expected to have solid basic theory, professional knowledge and strong research ability which can be seen in previous publications. Working experience in international financial organizations, major central banks or global financial institutions is preferred.
3.Types of Research Fellows and Requirements
There are three types of research fellows:
(1) Medium-to-long term research fellows
Medium-to-long term research fellows are expected to work full-time for three months or longer in most cases and complete one research paper as well as two presentations at internal seminars during this period.
(2) Resident research fellows
Resident research fellows may work on flexible research schedule during the residence term for six months or longer. They are expected to complete one research paper and two presentations at internal seminars during this period.
(3) Occasional research fellows
Occasional research fellows work mainly on short-term collaborative projects on an ad-hoc basis. They are expected to make a presentation at an internal seminar during the visit.
