The 41st Plenary Meeting of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG) and the meetings of the EAG Working Groups were held in Indore (Republic of India) on November 25-29, 2024. A delegation from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) attended the meetings.
The Plenary discussed several topics, including internal governance, typologies research, technical assistance and a new round of anti-money laundering (AML) assessment.
The Plenary decided to revise the terms of reference and appoint a new co-chair of the Working Group, discussed the EAG Budget and Work Plan for 2025, and granted the United Arab Emirates the observer status.
The Plenary heard the fourth round of AML assessment report of the Financial Action Task Force in India, reviewed and adopted the Sixth Follow-up Report of the Republic of Tajikistan, and revised the EAG Procedures for conducting the third round of AML assessment.
The Plenary approved reports on typologies research such as The Use of Virtual Assets for Criminal Purposes, and heard reports on the provision of technical assistance to EAG member States. The 11th Contest for the best cooperation between the EAG competent authorities was held as part of the Plenary Meeting. China Anti-Money Laundering Monitoring and Analysis Center sent representatives of China to participate in the contest and they finally won the prize. At the Plenary, representatives of the PBOC also introduced their experiences on related issues such as risk assessment of corporate money laundering, virtual asset governance and e-CNY AML.
The 42nd EAG Plenary Meeting will be held in the Russian Federation from 26 to 30 May 2025.
